Time to meat (oops) some of the neighbors. We have opened up the gates to our land as the sheep are quite handy at cutting the grass. One thing we have discovered is sheep come in several versions (and I don't just mean breeds). In general sheep tend to run once you get near but we have noticed some other types. First you have the "Hey whats going on in there and why have I not been invited"
Then you have "Tigger" who looks like hes a cross between a badger and a fox. Every other lamb this year was pure white (even Tiggers brother is pure white). I think Tigger knows hes different and plays to the crowd (its a cunning plan that seems to have worked as he wont be making that trip to the butchers)
I suspect theirs something in the water here in the Rossendale Valley as this is Joan who is quite possibly the largest lamb ever born. For a few days Honey Hole Farm became surrounded by TV crews and reporters just to see this cross between a sheep and Yoda. You can watch Emma (who shepherds these sheep) on the BBC article by clicking Here (yes that's the barn in the background and if your wondering that's a Yorkshire accent - or "Yaarksher" as she would say.
Now a couple of weeks after this was filmed Joan sadly took a turn for the worse. Being so tall made it very very hard for her to get under her mother for milk. She was later diagnosed with meningitis by the vet but now after a week or two of hand raising inside seems to be getting better and stronger every day.
And how could we forget this guy who appears every day for a snack, a cuddle and to sleep off that heavy night hunting in the fields and woods. Meet Tommy (well that's his name when he comes here)
